Deze methode is ontwikkeld door o.a. Steven Hayes. Mindfulness kan je helpen om door middel van acceptatie stoornissen als depressie, angst of paniek te overwinnen. In de MBCT-therapie leer je negatieve gedachten of gevoelens te accepteren zoals ze zijn, in plaats van ze te vermijden of onderdrukken. Je leert verbinding te maken met positieve emoties en de aandacht anders te richten, zodat negatieve gedachten niet gaan overheersen.[:en]

MBCT is a therapy developed by Steven Hayes, among others. Mindfulness is a means of treating disorders such as depression, anxiety or panic attacks with the aid of acceptance. You learn to accept negative thoughts or feelings for what they are, instead of avoiding or repressing them. You learn to connect with positive emotions and shift your attention focus to other things, thus preventing negative thoughts from dominating.[:]
